Ashford Homes Secures Outline Planning Permission for 43 New Homes in Queen Camel, Somerset

Ashford Homes is pleased to announce that outline planning permission has been granted for an exciting new home development of 43 homes in the picturesque village of Queen Camel, Somerset.

The proposed scheme has been thoughtfully designed to meet a range of housing needs, comprising 28 open market homes, including a selection of two to four-bedroom properties and bungalows, alongside 15 affordable homes. A reserved matters application has already been submitted, with work on site expected to begin later this year.

Stuart Morgan, Managing Director of Ashford Homes said, “We’re thrilled to have secured outline planning permission and to have submitted the reserved matters application in the beautiful village of Queen Camel. This milestone cements our commitment to delivering high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes in sought-after rural locations. We look forward to working closely with the local community and planning authorities as the development progresses. Thank you to everyone involved in securing the consent and helping to shape a well thought out proposed development.”

Queen Camel is a charming Somerset village, renowned for its scenic surroundings and vibrant community spirit. It offers a range of local amenities, including the Queen Camel Community Shop run by dedicated volunteers and stocked with everyday essentials, local produce, and groceries. The village pub, the Mildmay Arms, provides a welcoming spot for residents and visitors alike, while additional dining options are available nearby at the Sparkford Inn and The Camelot. Local produce is also a highlight, with popular farm shops such as Court House Dairy and Camel Farm offering a variety of fresh meats, cheeses, and seasonal vegetables.

Despite its rural charm, Queen Camel benefits from excellent transport links. The village lies close to the A303, providing easy access to towns and cities such as Salisbury, Yeovil and Taunton.
