Protect yourself from volatile gas prices with an Ashford Home

Soaring wholesale gas prices have left the UK in an energy crisis, with fears for fixed income households as bills rise and a wave of energy firms under threat. The UK government and its main political opposition agree the only real long-term solution is to cut the UK’s reliance on gas by backing renewables and low-carbon alternatives to gas boilers, such as air source heat pumps.

We recently announced our commitment to become carbon neutral by only installing renewable energy heat sources in all our future homes*, and dispensing with gas boilers. This commitment has commenced with our new development in Wroughton near Swindon this month, however, you can also find air source heat pumps in some of our recent developments including Long Hazel Farm, Burrows Court and Wolverlands in Sparkford as well as Bailbrook Lane in Bath.

Stuart Morgan, Managing Director said, “Ashford Homes has committed to providing more sustainable homes and is working in partnership with Daikin to exclusively install renewable energy heat sources in all our future new build homes*. Therefore, protecting our customers from any future gas price issues, whilst moving forward to net zero carbon homes”.

What is an air source heat pump?

An air source heat pump is a sustainable, environmentally friendly heating solution and its benefits will last for generations to come. Powered by 75% renewable energy extracted from the air and 25% electricity, Daikin’s air source heat pumps heat and cool your home with A+++ energy efficiency.

By using renewable heat from an air source heat pump, you’re significantly reducing your environmental impact. Daikin’s Altherma low temperature system saves up to 45% of carbon emissions compared to a gas boiler, and 59% of carbon emissions emitted by an oil or LPG boiler – a reduction of up to 46.9 tonnes of carbon emissions from your home over your heat pump’s expected 15 year lifetime, compared with using oil or LPG. That’s a massive impact, even more than living car free, which saves an average of 2.04 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per person annually.
