Ashford Homes commits to only installing renewable heat sources in all future homes

In 2019, Philip Hammond announced in his spring statement that ‘fossil-fuel heating systems’ would no longer be installed in any domestic new build properties from 2025 as part of the Future Homes Standard. These systems include gas and oil boilers. The decision was part of the government’s plan to tackle climate change and growing carbon emissions to create a zero-carbon country by 2050.

We have decided to act early and commit to further reduce our CO2 emissions and become carbon neutral well in advance of the anticipated 2025 ban on the sale of gas and oil boilers by using only renewable energy heat sources in all our future homes*. This commitment will begin with our exciting new project in Wroughton near Swindon starting next month.

To that end, we are delighted to grow our hugely successful partnership with Daikin UK who will continue to supply us with high quality and reliable technology to heat our homes together with their unrivalled support and service.

Stuart Morgan, Managing Director said, “Our determination to provide more sustainable homes has prompted us to make the decision to only use renewable energy heat sources in all our future new build homes*, well in advance of the anticipated ban on the sale of new fossil fuelled boilers. Our team has been working tirelessly over the past few months to bring this commitment forward.

Having worked exclusively with Daikin on a number of projects using air source heat pumps over the past five years, it gives us immense comfort that we shall be able to continue and nurture our hugely successful partnership working alongside such an established and well-respected company with a product portfolio that will complement our quality and specification.”

An air source heat pump is a sustainable, environmentally friendly heating solution and its benefits will last for generations to come. Powered by 75% renewable energy extracted from the air and 25% electricity, Daikin’s air source heat pumps heat and cool your home with A+++ energy efficiency.

By using renewable heat from a Daikin heat pump, you’re significantly reducing your environmental impact. Daikin’s Altherma low temperature system saves up to 45% of carbon emissions compared to a gas boiler, and 59% of carbon emissions emitted by an oil or LPG boiler – a reduction of up to 46.9 tonnes of carbon emissions from your home over your heat pump’s expected 15 year lifetime, compared with using oil or LPG. That’s a massive impact, even more than living car free, which saves an average of 2.04 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per person annually.
